Bassenthwaite Parish Room, rebuilt in 2017, provides a fantastic accommodation location for outdoor groups, with Skiddaw rising just a few fields away. It is essential that visitors bring their own camp/blow-up beds, bedding, towels and toiletries. Self-catering for a large group is easy in the modern and well-equipped kitchen. The timer-framed building is a Passivhaus of energy efficiency.The building is fully wheelchair accessible and is well provisioned with two showers, seperate male/female toilets, an upstairs meeting room and a main hall with audio-visual equipment and projector, making it perfect for team-building or educational trips. Limited parking available. Free WiFi is available throughout the building. A great location for accessing the Northern Lake District with Skiddaw virtually on the doorstep. The Lake District Wildlife Park is also close by. Water and Outdoor Sports are available in nearby Keswick, 6 miles away, and the Solway Coast is also within driving distance. From the A66 Keswick Bypass take the exit at Crosthwaite Roundabout following the A591 (signposted Carlisle) for 5.7 miles, when you see the large Church on the right immediately after is a crossroad with a signpost for Bassenthwaite, turn right here and follow School Road to the Parish Room.
Train at Penrith on the West Coast Mainline. Stagecoach buses from Penrith to Bassenthwaite. Local taxi firms also available.
This accommodation is by the sea, is near mountains, is in a National Park, is available only to groups, is an 'Eco Hostel', has a pub within walking distance, has availability this New Year and this Christmas and is on the C2C Cycle Route.
