Ocean Backpackers is an Independent Youth Hostel situated in a beautiful part of North Devon called Ilfracombe. We cater for individual Backpackers up to groups of 54 in a variety of dorms and private rooms and provide a large self-catering kitchen and communal lounge for our guests. We have many friends, families, surfers, cyclists, walkers, divers etc etc that come to stay and welcome a run of school groups/NCS groups during the summer months. We have many repeat guests and boast a Certificate of Excellence for 2018!
We are looking for a new Manager from the beginning of March to the end of October 2019 (with a possible extension of a few weeks into November.) This is a live-in position with a comfortable Managers room on site. Hours average out at 48 per week. Shifts are from 9am-midday for cleaning and laundry and 4pm-10pm for checking guests in. All health and safety aspects, risk assessments, policies and future bookings are undertaken by the Proprietors. The successful candidate will have 1 1/2 to 2 days off per week (mainly week days) with appropriate holiday in accordance with a fixed term contract and will generally work alongside a Help Exchange volunteer whenever possible.
We are looking for a fun, vibrant male or female with excellent customer service skills and preferably experience of travelling and working in a Hostel or the Hospitality industry. This job involves a lot of bed making and cleaning so good health and a willingness to maintain high standards is essential! Full training will be given by the owners and the successful candidate will be expected to work independently as well as part of a team. Ilfracombe is a beautiful place to live and the new Manager will be able to embrace coastal life in this fabulous seaside resort!
