My name is Hervé Guillemain (French male citizen). I am looking for a deputy manager or assistant manager position.

Hostelling is a passion and a career choice because I value discovery and adventure, as well as opportunities for all young people and sustainability. After successfully managing hostels, I would like to run or help to run a hostel, bringing with me years of experience in hospitality and customer service.

In my last job as a hostel manager, I increased the surplus per overnight from £12 in 2018 to almost £17 in 2019 while developing an excellent reputation (9.5 on Hostelworld). Working for YHA England & Wales and Hostelling Scotland, I have successfully combined sustainability and high standards in housekeeping, customer services and staff wellbeing. With a hands on attitude, I am familiar with reception, reservations, administration, catering, and housekeeping. I have also trained and managed teams and recruited more than 20 volunteers.

Eager to bring positive changes, I have led several projects of my initiative, from putting in place a hostel social network to increasing the quantity of recycling waste. I also have an interest in interior design and I have improved hostels layout and decoration for guests’ comfort and hostel’s profitability.
