We are looking to recruit a Deputy Manager at Derwentwater Independent Hostel. With 88 beds, and being located two miles south of Keswick in the Borrowdale valley, the hostel is busy throughout the year with school and university groups in the spring, summer & autumn, and is popular with adult groups, families and individual guests at weekends and during school holidays.

The Deputy Manager will take responsibility for the day to day running of the hostel, delivering hostel services to all guests, whilst maintaining our unique home from home atmosphere.

This is a hands on Deputy Manager role, and your working week will include a mixture of shifts, including food preparation & service, reception and housekeeping, whilst leading and supporting our experienced hostel staff team.

The role will also involve deputising in the absence of the Hostel Manager, and supporting the Manager & Trustees in our development plans.

With some split shifts and 2 days off per week, the role will suit an active person looking to make the most of a living and working in the heart of the Lake District.

Live in single room accommodation is available, if required, either in the hostel, or in a shared house in Keswick, with the option to opt in and pay for full hostel meals. A charge is made for accommodation and meals as required.

For further information please contact Tim Butcher (Hostel Manager) by email ([email protected]) requesting an application pack, which will include a Job Description and further information. Please then send a CV and covering letter, outlining your skills and experience, and demonstrating your suitability for the role. For an informal conversation regarding your application please call the hostel.
