Àite Cruinnichidh Hostel is close to Roy Bridge and Fort William. The sales includes 28 bed hostels and family home.

We  moved to the Highlands in the autumn of 1990 planning to renovate a former croft outbuilding and to open an independent hostel. We opened Àite Cruinnichidh in  February 1991 in the days before the internet , computers and mobile phones. The income we generated was put back into the hostel and we opened our  extension to the hostel on the eve of the new millennium. Word of mouth and advertising are crucial to get any business off the ground. Initially there were around twelve independent hostels, as opposed to the YHA hostels ,and we advertised in a simple paper leaflet.

In the Nineties we were visited by Sam ,on a tour of Scotland, who was very enthusiastic about hostels. It was great to have someone so positive to spread the word and promote hostels through, first a leaflet, and then a high quality booklet and website.

We have really enjoyed running Àite Cruinnichidh and made new friends along the way. It has been rewarding to have returning guests going right back to 1991 and to enjoy an  international mix during the summer months. The diversity of our guests has been really interesting, from babies to octogenarians and people from all walks of life. We will be very sad to leave this beautiful home and the hostel, but after nearly thirty years it is time to move on.
