As soon as we met Glen, I knew that we were in a friendly city. Glen is the manager of Hull Trinity Backpackers, and he started off our holiday with a friendly greeting and a personal tour of all of the best places to visit in the city.

Glen is the manager of Hull Trinity Backpackers, and he started off our holiday with a friendly greeting and a personal tour of all of the best places to visit in the city. He told us about the history of trade and industry and pointed out a statue dedicated to the European immigrants who passed through Hull on their journey to the new world in the 1800s. We finished off the tour with an ice cold pint at the sunny waterfront, and then me and my friends prepared for a night out!
The next day we woke up to the sound of church bells and blue skies. We decided to make the most of the gorgeous weather by taking a short drive up to the coast. We stopped off first at Flamborough Head, where we went for a walk around the spectacular coastline a swam at a little cove called Dane’s Dyke.
After Swimming in the surprisingly warm sea, we ate fish and chips in the Harbour town of Bridlington. Afterwards we drank coffee while exploring the harbour walls, and ventured up an overhead walkway which seemed relatively unexplored, and had plaques dedicated to men lost at sea. I didn’t take any photos of these, but I found a rather comical newspaper clipping:
Then we returned to Hull and went out to explore the night life… and pose in front of some of Hull’s lovely shop fronts.
Coming home we shared a few glasses of wine and met Jurgen, an adorable Daschund puppy of another guest.
On our final day we tried out Hull Trinity Backpacker’s neighbouring market. It had so many different options of fresh delicious-looking food, I could hardly decide. But eventually, I decided to try out a chilli chicken panino in a freshly baked baguette from an Italian food place.
There was plenty of vegan food on offer too, my friends found a wonderful falafel shop where they got these amazing wraps. I’d never seen a green tortilla before!
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend away, and with attractions such as The Deep still to visit, and many museums to explore, it is definitely a city I would love to return to.
