The recent solar eclipse gave us a reminder that darkness exists, but thankfully, here at Wild Valley Huts, we’re still enjoying the long summer evenings! Evening walks. Evenings spent cosying by the chiminea. Evenings spent star gazing from the hot tub.
However, we have started to notice that there is an unmistakeable feeling of autumn in the air. It feels like the seasons are quietly turning. Goldern leaves twirling to the ground. The low sun filtering through the trees. A fresher, cooler scent in the air; making us want to wrap up or take an extra layer with us when we’re walking the dogs.
The other afternoon it felt like our autumn thoughts had been confirmed as when arrived back, the Cuckoo Hut guests were enjoying the warmth of the wood fired stove.
The gorgeous smell of wood smoke drifting through the air.
The smoke rising against the backdrop of the rolling countryside.
That lovely cosy, wrapped-up feeling re-appearing.
We love this time of year, when the countryside truly comes to life. The surrounding countryside is rich in wildlife and diverse habitats, making it a wonderful place to slow down and connect with nature. Keep your eyes and ears open for Tawny Owls, soaring Red Kites and a wonderful variety of migratory birds.
From October onwards, there are spectacular daily murmurations of starlings, often gathering in their thousands and filling the evening sky with mesmerising movement. They can usually be seen around 4pm, making for a truly magical countryside experience. Take a wander down the drive as dusk settles in, and you’re almost guaranteed to catch sight of bats flitting through the evening air. We’re passionate about maintaining the ground for wildlife and helping nature thrive here so you can enjoy rich sightings during your stay.
