Ty Cwch holds Green Tourism Gold certification. Not because it looks good on marketing materials, but because sustainable design was the entire point.
Built from repurposed shipping containers and locally sourced materials, such as the larch cladding, Ty Cwch was designed by an architect, (me), specializing in sustainable architecture, and was also awarded an Innovation in Tourism award by Visit Wales. Sustainability and carbon reduction is fundamental to what we are.
Low embodied energy and100% renewable electricity, water conservation systems results in a minimal environmental footprint and maximum connection to the natural environment. The awards validate the approach, but the real measure is simpler: leaving Cwmtydu as we found it.
