Our grounds are full of wild flowers for the insects and berries for the birds. On the advice of Green Tourism we have made a Bee Watering Station to give the Bees a safe place to drink and to celebrate World Bee Day is on May 20th. #hivefiveforbees
World Bee Day is about flagging up the critical issue of a declining global bee population (due in part to climate change and the wide use of toxic pesticides). Bees and other insects are essential for pollination, without which many food crops cannot grow successfully, so a lack of bees can contribute to crop failure and therefore long term food sustainability.
