Winter Escapes on the Caribbean of the Hebrides

Winter escapes are at their best on the Isle of Coll. Picture yourself on white sands at the edge of the world. View our awesome starry sky from the doorstep. Dine out with a view. Feel the welcome!

From beautiful white sands and a picturesque village on the banks of Loch Eatharna, to great food and drink (with a view) and an awesome starry sky, the Isle of Coll is a true getaway. Time moves more slowly here and relaxation takes on a new meaning, even if you are one of our more active visitors. As Scotland’s only island International Dark Sky Community it is no surprise that astronomers come here to enjoy our starry sky, but you don’t have to be an expert, or even an amateur, to be amazed by what is on offer here. Our days are also quite something as we benefit from some of the highest sunshine hours per annum in the UK and, thanks to the Gulf Stream, have a more temperate winter climate than the mainland. During the day there are loads of white sands to explore and the road that leads you to them has a different view around every corner. Most of the island facilities are situated in our beautiful village where visitors receive a warm welcome. Whiling away the time in the village is not just for locals. Our modern community centre provides a multitude of facilities for locals and visitors, from sports and games to events, a gym (inductions can be arranged), reading material and a wonderful space to relax. Our local restaurants use local produce where possible and have wonderful views. Visitors regularly comment on the welcome received. We are open over Christmas and New Year and have a great group discounts during the winter months. Additional discounts are available for long stays.
