Waterfront Bunkhouse

If you Know Carbost on the Isle of Skye at all, then you might know it for the Talisker Distillery, but a few strides back into town you’ll also find The Old Inn. Tucked away, fittingly on the waterfront, is Waterfront Bunkhouse. It is a purpose built bunkhouse which can house 24 in dorms of four and six.  Upstairs, taking full advantage of the view over Loch Harport, is kitchen and common room. With its distinctive balcony overlooking the sea, the common room invites us to linger and enjoy the landscape. In my mind I’m cradling a glass of the local stuff. 

The loch is, at first glance, still. Then you take in the movement of small boats; an inquisitive seal’s head; shore birds wading. The reflections of the mountains draw the eye up; the crags and outcrops reaching their full expression in the distinctive Cuillins.

There is much to explore and discover on Skye: music, dance, history, wildlife. And maybe a tour and tasting session might well be on your itinerary.  The Waterfront Bunkhouse is a modern, well appointed retreat to return to with a location and view second to none.
