Visit the ancient village of Castle Acre in Norfolk

Castle Acre has a very special atmosphere and an historic hostel with a peaceful welcome.

The village of Castle Acre was an important Norman Town and you still pass through the medieval wall via the bailey gate to reach the village green with its choice of pubs. The village has a special atmosphere and a hostel which has been providing a welcome to travellers for generations. Historically an Inn, then a youth hostel in the hey day of youth hostelling. The Old Red Lion continues to welcome guests as an independent hostel with its own quiet brand of peace ideal for travellers, retreats and workshops. Next to the hostel is the 11th century castle and a Cluniac priory both managed by English Heritage.
