Thorney How

…the most perfect Lake District location…

Take a look at the picture and you’ll see that Thorney How  in Grasmere looks like the most perfect Lake District accommodation. A handsome square, well proportioned  farmhouse with 26 beds made of the ubiquitous local slate which gives charming features inside and out. The rooms are all en-suite and, modern and comfortable, with amazing views all round. There is also a bunkhouse with shower facilities too.

The village of Grasmere is, again, the most perfect Lake District location. Bordering the picturesque Lakes of Grasmere and Rydal water and with Helm Crag and The Fairfield Horseshoe above, it encapsulates the landscape. Of course in Victorian times it was crawling with Romantic poets – Wordsworth, De Quincey and Coleridge all soaked up the atmosphere (and maybe more) here.

Thorney How, then, offers a chance to immerse yourself in the Lake District. They have Bike Hire on site and Wainwright’s Coast to Coast route comes past. You can book online and you might even catch Pizza Fridays or Free Film Saturdays.
