THORNEY HOW IS NO LONGER A HOSTEL OR BUNKHOUSE. Grasmere Bunkhouse is part of the hostel, guest house, bar and restaurant offering at Thorney How, an historic gentleman’s residence.
Thorney How offers B&B and Bunkhouse accommodation in the Lake District. Previously a YHA hostel, established in 1932, it was one of the first Youth Hostels in the Lake District. It is now a family owned and run Independent Hostel, awarded 4 stars by Visit Britain.
The Lake District is a Unesco World Heritage site. Its beauty is the result of thousands of years of industry and agricultural working on the spectacular natural landscape of mountains, valleys, lakes and woodland. It is a cultural landscape of international significance. The beauty of the Lake District inspired artists and writers of the Picturesque and Romantic movements and generated ideas about landscape that have had global influence.
