The summer is fast approaching, and we still have vacancies for those that want to explore as well as those that want to rest and recover.

The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a wonderful location to either explore the many different facets or just to relax by a stream or on a heathery moorland. At Carrshield Camping Barn we can offer both types of breaks.

Located close to the county boundaries of Cumbria, Northumberland and County Durham we are ideally located to explore this quiet area that has so much to offer. Whether it is exploring the larger valleys of the South Tyne, upper Tees or Wear all close at hand or the many smaller quiet locations.
Within a short distance there are the historic Roman remains of Hadrian’s Wall, Vindolanda, Houseteads and Epiacum, all just waiting for you and your imagination. There are museums showing what life was like in the heyday on the mining that took place throughout the area, and contrary to that a Sci-Fi Museum as well.
The moors, fells and valleys are there to explore with routes from the door that can be walked or run, for those with that little bit more energy. These are on our website and free to download and follow.
At the end of the day relax with a campfire by the river and watch the stars gradually come out in the Dark Skies that the area is known for.
There are many more activities available, with details on our website, so book now to avoid disappointment.
