Think of doing something different next year? Why not plan an expedition, whether on foot, cycle, or bike there is plenty in the North Pennines to explore.
Think of doing something different next year? Why not plan an expedition, whether on foot, cycle or bike there is plenty in the North Pennines to explore.
At Carrshield Camping Barn, we are fortunate to have all of these on our doorstep; there is the 36-mile Isaac’s Tea Trail; the Sea to Sea Cycle route all 140 miles or so; and the Trans Euro Trail for bikes that is a massive 32, 000 miles from the edge of Africa to the Arctic Circle.
The Tea Trail is a way-marked route and, on Ordnance Survey maps, as a registered Long-Distance Footpath. A circular journey taking you over moors, fells and along beautiful valleys. Full of historical detail and giving beautiful scenery and wildlife along its course.
The Sea to Sea, or Coast to Coast, C2C cycle route from Whitehaven, crossing the country to end at Tynemouth. Carrshield Camping Barn is ideally located mid-way along the distance and just after the highest point.
The Trans Euro Trail, or TET for short, is a massive expedition for hardened bikers. The aim is to travel as much of the route as possible by avoiding tarmac. Again, this adventure passes our door, so a perfect place to rest from a gruelling day in the saddle.
We also give an extremely warm welcome to those who wish to come and spend a relaxing time in a secluded valley of the North Pennines.
