Snowdon Lodge is the birthplace of Lawrence of Arabia. When TE Lawrence lived here, the house was called Gorphwysfa (Resting place) and it is now known mostly as Snowdon Lodge The house is available for exclusive group hire providing great value self-catering accommodation for groups of up to 35 people. Thomas Edward Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) was born at Tŷ Lawrence ( Snowdon Lodge ) in Tremadog North Wales on 16th August 1888. T.E Lawrence gained notoriety leading an Arab rebellion against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War. He was celebrated as the hero Lawrence of Arabia. He passed away on 19th May 1935, following a motor cycle accident.
Snowdon Lodge is full of information about T.E Lawrence with memorabilia and posters throughout the building, making it a fascinating place to stay. Outside there is a plaque commemorating the building as the birthplace of Lawrence of Arabia and in the grounds is a tree bench and plaque erected in 2015 as part of a local celebration of Lawrence’s life. Come to Snowdon Lodge and you and your friends can sleep in the house where Lawrence of Arabia was born, close to the mountains of Snowdonia and the Sea!
