The best off-road woodland hostel ever!

We think Shining Cliff hostel is a fabulous place to come and stay, and we don’t think there is another hostel in the UK that has a similar setting….as it is located off-road in an ancient woodland.

Shining Cliff hostel is uniquely located off-road, in the heart of a 600 acre ancient woodland in Derbyshire. You can access the hostel by walking half a mile along a beautiful woodland footpath with your belongings loaded into a wheelbarrow, or you can walk up from the local train or bus stop in nearby Ambergate.
You can hire your own private room during the week (and often will have the hostel to yourselves) or you can book sole use for weekends with friends or groups as it will sleep up to 20 people; but there are only a few weekends left available this year, so book early for next year!
Shining Cliff hostel is in a magical setting, step out of the front door into the woodland, with many footpaths to explore the woodland with its millstone grit crags, lake and streams. The hostel is a haven, a glorious place to spend some time away from our busy, noisy lives, come and try it for yourselves!
The hostel has a stunning fire pit area that nestles up to the crags that give the woodland it’s name of Shining Cliff, a wonderful place to spend time around a campfire with others, having a go at cooking over the fire or simply sitting and enjoying the beautiful woodland setting.
Hire is from £15 per person for a private room with shared facilities in the midweek (Sunday to Thursday) and £340 per night for weekend sole use for up to 20 people (minimum 2 night stay, so a total of £640)
