The 5 Ferry Challenge route uses 5 ferries and 4 cycle rides around the Firth of Clyde and North Kintyre. Bute Backpackers at Rothsay is a great starting point. Take the first ferry from Wemyss Bay on the Scottish mainland to Rothsay on the Isle Bute for nights rest at Bute Backpackers. The next morning cycle across Bute to the ferry from Rhubodach on Bute to Colintraive. The next leg can be taken through Inveraray where Inveraray Hostel is available. Or cycle straight on to the ferry from Portavadie to Tarbet on the Kintyre Peninsular. The fourth ferry is from Claonaig to Lochranza on the Isle of Arran with a final cycle ride from Brodick back to the Scottish mainland at Ardrossan. The 5 Ferry route is a challenging ride through some of Scotland’s most breathtaking scenery.
