Choose between Cuckoo Cottage and The Barn for a summer in the hills

How about a long weekend in the hills in one of the most remote holiday locations in England, and yet fully accessible by car?

At Ilderton Dod Barns we have Cuckoo Cottage with a king-sized bed and space for a Z bed or cot, then The Barn next door which sleeps up to 8 in a double, bunk and 4 singles. Both accept dogs (2 in the cottage, 3 in The Barn) and have log burners, barbecues, a fire brazier and a newly opened lockable bike store with bike charging and washing facilities.

We’re ideally located in the north of Northumberland National Park for walking, cycling, running, horse-riding (grazing can be provided), wildlife spotting and visiting archaeological sites. We’re also in the International Dark Sky Park so once the daylight hours decline the star-gazing opportunities increase.

Both of our properties are available for the August bank holiday weekend and only 7 miles away on bank holiday Monday, the annual Glendale Show takes place near Wooler. As well as the traditional country show exhibits, show animals, main ring events and equine classes, there are fairground rides, a food tent, craft tent, a dog show etc.
