Summer Escapes in Northumberland National Park

Lambing may be over, but our 600 lambs are still close by the 2 cottages at Ilderton Dod Barns. Lapwings, curlew, grouse, cuckoos are hard to miss, and if you look in the right place you may find our cattle out on the hill too. Our family-friendly marked paths allow plenty of chances to experience all this, plus views over Northumberland National Park and (on a clear day) out to sea.

If exploring on foot doesn’t appeal, bring your bike or horse, both of which we can accommodate too. Routes can be provided for all modes of transport, many of which take in a visit to Ingram Cafe, just 4 miles away.

The cottages are 1.5 miles up a farm track, but accessible by all except sports cars. Other than the 2 neighbouring properties, the accommodation is isolated and peaceful. However, we’re only half a hour’s drive from Alnwick with it’s famous castle, and a few miles further away is the stunning Northumberland coast with multiple other castles and deserted beaches.

Ford and Etal Estate (18 miles) is another family friendly favourite with it’s miniature railway, heavy horse centre, corn mill, cafes, castle and walks. Not much further on is Berwick-Upon-Tweed, full of history including Roman walls and the barracks.

Back at the cottages, the large showers, log burner, barbecue, TV etc make for a comfortable stay and both properties are sole use.
