Stay in a train carriage by Glenfinnan viaduct and experience the magic of Harry Potter for yourself

The Glenfinnan Viaduct. Made entirely from concrete and arguably the most impressive viaduct in the UK. It cuts through the Scottish highlands with like a hot knife through butter and it is no surprise that visitors flock from all corners of the UK to revel in its beauty.

More recently, the viaduct has accrued star status by appearing in several of the Harry Potter movies. Mostly famously, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in which Harry and Ron whizz between the arches of the viaduct while struggling to regain control of their flying car. Now every summer “Potterheads” and train enthusiasts alike throng to Glenfinnan Viaduct. To admire the ingenuity of the viaduct, relive the THAT nail-biting Harry Potter scene and, of course, catch a glimpse of the Hogwarts Express (known in the land of muggles as The Jacobite Steam Train)

The Harry Potter train only runs April to October, though stunning views are available all year round. If you want to beat the crowds of train enthusiasts and Potterheads, it might be worth visiting over Winter. Alternatively, join the swathes of Glenfinnan Viaduct fanatics and visit in the Summer months.

Whenever you decide to make the pilgrimage to Glenfinnan Viaduct, Glenfinnian Sleeping Car is open all year round. Located just a stone’s throw from the world famous viaduct. The Sleeping Car has rugged Scottish mountain in every direction and has a fully equipped kitchen, showers, a drying room and total hydro-electric heating.
