Shining Cliff Hostel Open for Individual Bookings!

shining cliff youth hostel in the woods

Shining Cliff hostel, the unique, off-road hostel in the middle of an ancient Derbyshire woodland, has re-opened for individual bookings from Monday – Thursdays, book your own room and come and enjoy the get-away-from-it-all woodland location for a night.

Shining Cliff hostel is located off-road, in Shining Cliff woods, near Ambergate, Derbyshire. Access is by foot along woodland footpaths only, with the hostel car park half a mile from the hostel, or Ambergate train station a 40 minute walk away, mostly through woodland footpaths once you leave the village of Ambergate.
There is a choice of 2 bed rooms (£30 per night) 4 bed rooms (£60 per night) or 6 bed rooms (£90 per night) to hire for the night, with shared access of the self catering kitchen, lounge and dining area, with 3 bathrooms with showers. Check-in time can be discussed on booking, if you prefer an earlier arrival than 5pm, and check out is at 10am.
The hostel does not have a warden present overnight, but you will have the access codes to get into the hostel and a comprehensive welcome pack is emailed out to guests, so you know what you need to bring with you, you are also made aware of other guests who are booked in, and one of us will pop by to say ‘hello’ and make sure you are settled in.
Sorry, but as other guests might not be happy with dogs, we do have a ‘no dogs’ rule for individual bookings – but dogs are welcome to stay if you hire the hostel for sole use.
If there is any availability, we can also offer bespoke woodland sessions – see the hostel website for more information or contact Kate at [email protected]
