The challenge of the Sea to Sea (C2C) cycling route at approximately 130 miles long is an exceptional feat for most athletes. Nestling in the quiet West Allen Valley just below the highest point along the route, Black Hill at 609m is the Carrshield Camping Barn. We provide a great place to stay over before the trip to Allenheads or Nenthead, depending on whether going east or west. Also, an excellent location to spend a few nights exploring this quiet part of Northern England.
Allendale, Alston, Haltwhistle and Haydon Bridge are all close by; they can be accessed along the Allen Valleys and South Tyne Valley. Quiet country lanes criss-cross this part of the country, allowing you to explore safely. Alternatively, take a walk along the valley or over the moors to give you a rest from the saddle.
