Sanctuary for Yorkshire’s rural homeless during the coronavirus pandemic

The Jonas Centre in the Yorkshire Dales, normally the site of family holidays and group get-togethers, has been providing accommodation to homeless people during the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the heart of Wensleydale in the tranquil beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, The Jonas Centre provides twelve Scandinavian lodges with a communal area in the Granary for groups to gather or dine together.  In better times these are ideal for escaping to the country and sightseeing, right now they are providing a refuge for homeless people who have been sleeping under bridges, in cars, tents and graveyards.
