Although bike rides are lovely, seldom do they reap such wonderful and unexpected results.
Graham, manager at Palace Farm Hostel was out on a bike ride one day when he bumped into his local counciller at a village cafe, they got talking over lunch and Graham discovered his hostel was eligible for a Clean Growth Grant provided by the government!
In the weeks to follow, Graham and his hostel were awarded with the highest grant meaning he could build what he previously thought could only be a pipe dream! The hostel had funding to help build solar panels and an electric car charging point. Palace Farm Hostel is now the proud new owner of thirty 400w solar panels. Ten on the campsite toilet roof and twenty on a south facing hostel roof.
This had been on the hostel’s wish list for at least 10 years but due to the cost they thought it could never be achieved
Who could have thought such good fortune would have come from an ordinary bike ride!
