New Experiences for the Whole Family

At Ilderton Dod Barns we still have some availability in both properties over the school summer holidays. Living and working here all the time, we sometimes forget that most of the world haven’t experience living on a hill farm before! Even fellow farmers are often taken aback by the peace and tranquility up here, the minimal mechanisation, and the abundance of wildlife.

We believe we have some of the most remote self-catering accommodation in England, and yet we still have mains electric and great 4G signal (if you want to use it!). Our 600 ewes and 70 head of cattle are not intensively managed but most weeks of the summer you will see action such as gathering of sheep, shearing, hay making, mowing bracken etc. We get a lot of repeat bookings from guests keen to see different seasons of the year, and the varying vegetation, wildlife and views that come with these. Although we’re 1.5 miles up a driveway (accessible by all but sports cars!), we have easy access to the towns of Berwick, Alnwick and lots of picturesque coastal villages. Favourite day trips for families include Alnwick Castle / Gardens / Lilidorei play park, going ‘overseas’ to Holy Island, visiting Wooler and the newest whisky distillery in the area, walking / cycling / paddling in the Ingram Valley…the list goes on and on.
