Mystery & Adventure on Pendle…

Downham camping barn with vehicle parking

Book a stay at the Downham Camping Barn, nestled in the heart of the Trough of Bowland on the skirts of iconic Pendle. No matter what the vicissitudes of the Lancashire weather this prominent and unforgettable landmark is mesmerizing in its minute by minute changability of weather and light. Steeped in legend, abounding in the natural flora and fauna of the South Pennines, come and enjoy a few days respite from the digital age in our stone tent and experience the very real natural magic of a very special corner of Lancashire.

The Downham Camping Barn lies in it’s own quiet backwater a mile from Downham Village, (Whistle Down the Wind/Born & Bred). Sleeping 12, this stone tent offers the comfort of a solid building without the complications of battling canvas at the end of a long day’s hike for both the first timer to the well experienced.

No electricity or charging points, the barn is lit by LED strip lights, and with cold water only on tap, the barn is the ideal place to escape the digital world, take a deep breath and reconnect with family and friends. A log burner, long table and bench seating constitute a handy gathering area, whilst the upper floor has space to comfortably sleep 12. Toilet and large belfast sink make up the ground floor washing area. A fire pit, with seating facilitates warm evening conversations out of doors.
