Museums of Hampshire

The Privett Centre has a great location for enjoying the countryside and local history.

Located in an attractive Hampshire farming village just west of Petersfield, The Privett Centre is surrounded by rural walks and has a great location for day excursions.  The Privett Centre is just thirty minutes from Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard.  The Dockyard Museum tells the story of the Royal Navy from the 15th Century to modern times and you can visit the Tudor Mary Rose and Lord Nelson’s HMS Victory. Thirty minutes in the opposite direction takes you to Milestones Museum, a recreation of city life in Hampshire in the late Victorian, Edwardian and war-time eras.  The Museum has period street scenes with shops to visit and costumed interpreters who demonstrate a past way of life in Hampshire.  Or you and your group could just relax at the centre and enjoy the large common room, games room, playground and paddock.  The Privett Centre sleeps up to 28 people in six rooms and costs a minimum of £150 a night or £13 a person.
