Looking for a white Christmas, we could be just the place

Bored of doing the same thing? Want to get away from cooking the turkey? Well, why not come to Carrshield where you can get away from it all and maybe have a white Christmas

The geese are getting fat, and the days are becoming shorter and cooler; therefore, it must be Autumn. Time to think about a short break to see the beautiful colours or even a Christmas with a difference. Fortunately, at Carrshield Camping Barn, we can manage to accommodate both, maybe with a white Christmas as well. The North Pennines AONB is not only the last wilderness in England; it is also the snowiest, so there is more chance of snow here than in most other places. We were snowboarding and sledging last Christmas!
Each room has a log fire to keep you warm as the temperature drops; the thick walls of the original old Mine Shop help keep the cold winds out. But the days are full of opportunities to walk, cycle, run or laze around and enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of the area.
We have walks or runs that will take you from our door over the fells and moors, or more leisurely along the valleys, with Isaac’s Tea Trail nearby. The quiet lanes of both Allen Valleys lend themselves to scenic cycling, with the possibility of doing some off-road along tracks and Bridleways.
Start a new tradition by having an alternative style Christmas at Carrshield Camping Barn. No turkey cooking facilities are available, but we can give you a warm welcome.
