We’ve got some December & January dates available for sole use or individual room bookings at Shining Cliff Hostel, uniquely situated off-road in the largest ancient woodland in Derbyshire, Shining Cliff Woods.
Shining Cliff hostel is located in the stunning Shining Cliff woods in Derbyshire. It can only be accessed by foot, either by walking in from public transport options in the nearest village at Ambergate, or by using the private woodland car park located half a mile from the hostel and following the woodland footpath to the hostel.
The hostel is fully heated, with 3 bathrooms with showers, has a great self-catering kitchen and an open plan lounge and dining area. You are surrounded by trees as far as you can see and at this time of year the morning sunrise from the kitchen window is awesome. Head outside to enjoy listening to the birdsong with your morning cuppa (sit mats are provided to use on the benches situated just outside the front door).
The woodland has a web of wonderful walks that you can access from the front door of the hostel, and if you wish to go further afield than the woodland then there is a wealth of options, including the Peak District, the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site, vibrant towns with great independent shops (Belper, Wirksworth & Matlock), plus great walking options to local pubs and great cafes.

You can book your own room for 2, 4 or 6 people. You then have shared use of the hostel fire pit area, picnic area, bathrooms and self catering kitchen, lounge and dining room.
Alternatively you can book for sole use of the hostel, at the discounted rate of £200 per night for 13-20 people, or £150 per night for up to 12 people.

2025 Late Availability
3rd-5th January is available for sole use hire at the discounted price of £200 per night (rather than £300 per night) for 13-20 people, £150 per night for up to 12 people, or individual room bookings at £20 per night with shared facilities.
10th-12th January and 17th-19th January is available for sole use only at the moment, for £200/night for 13-20 people or £150/night for up to 12 people.
Weekday stays are available throughout January, for individual or sole use bookings.
