Keswick is the first place many people stop when they visit the Lakes, its only a short way off the motorway; it is an attractive town with all the facilities you’d expect so it makes a great base for the full adventure experience. Sitting right on Derwentwater and with Bassenthwaite Lake, Buttermere, Crummock Water, Loweswater and Thirlmere within reach; The iconic lakeland mountains of Skiddaw, Scafell Pike andHelvellyn climb nearby and the valleys and dales to explore; Keswick revels in its outdoor credentials.

If you’re visiting Keswick, you’ll have to consider Denton House. Denton House is a purpose built hostel  which can house a huge group of 56; offering organised activities including ghyll scrambling, climbing, abseiling as well as informal cycling, walking and mountaineering. They also welcome small groups and individuals – in fact as a stopping off point on a long trek its ideal as it offers all the bedding and food (including a packed lunch) that you could need.
