Kendal torchlight carnival started its life in 1970 and has increased in numbers every year, with 30 floats to start, to now 130 with bands, carnival and dance troupes and other processionists.
Kendal Torchlight 2015 “By the people, for the people” will be on Friday 11th September in 2015.
This carnival is put on by the people of Kendal for the community and surrounding area as well as visitors and guests. The aim for torch light night is to celebrate Kendal as well as the surrounding districts to benefit local residents, tourists and businesses and by organizing events, shows, exhibitions.
This is a really MUST SEE procession and EVERYONE IS WELCOME.

Please note that from 5.50pm on wards Kendal will become very congested and the town centre will be closed to traffic from around 6.30pm, but diversions will be in place and roads will reopen around 10.30pm.
7.30pm The Kendal Torchlight Carnival will start from the traffic lights by the K Village outlet, continuing through the town and heading back toward Kendal Leisure Centre.
