Ilderton Dod Barns are in the middle of an 1800 acre hill farm in Northumberland National Park, so walking routes are literally unlimited, but there is now a new 2.5 mile marked walk around the farm.
The Pennine Way at the summit of Cheviot is only 5 miles away, with Hedgehope hill even closer and multiple other summits with breath-taking views surrounding the farm. But for those wanting a less strenuous hike, or those unsure of their map reading abilities, we have just marked out a nice loop around the southern half of the farm on a good track. A paper guide is provided including an activity for kids on the way. You are sure to see plenty of sheep on route, but also curlews, partridge, grouse, lapwings and many more during the walk. Once back at the cottages, you can warm up in front of the log burning stove, refresh yourself under our hot power showers, or relax in our garden with the firepit and barbecue in action!
