HyB Bunkhouse

” I know where I’ll be wanting to stay next time I’m around Dolgellau area.”

HyB bunkhouse is on Heol y Bont in Dolgellau, mid Wales. It means Bridge Street and, I’m going to guess gives its initials to the name HyB Bunkhouse. The naming isn’t the only quirky detail. It is above the shop ‘Medi’ (which sells gifts and up-cycled chalk-paint goodies) in a listed building. There are beams and oak floorboards and wooden panels. There isn’t a communal kitchen/lounge  but each room has a mini-kitchen for self catering, which means extra privacy. Perfect for your small group or family.

I know the HyB bunkhouse through its cycling links. The section of the Sustrans 82 cycle-way  that goes through Dolgellau is one of the more challenging stretches but delivers views right through the heart of Snowdonia and along the coast too. Equally, the Coed Y Brenin mountain bike centre is right on the doorstep for high octane, Go Pro-friendly adventure.

An online reviewer gave a comment that carries more weight than anything I can write: “Modest and authentic hostel accommodation – exactly the style I prefer. I know where I’ll be wanting to stay next time I’m around Dolgellau area.”
