Holidaying on a budget? You’d be surprised how many wonderful things there are to do in and around Seahouses which are totally free of charge!

From simply spending time in our spacious garden complete games, activities and play area to walking along the many routes and trails all offering truly great views and pretty countryside to enjoy; as a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are beautiful beaches and scenic coastal routes too and it really is a walker’s paradise!

If you fancy something a little more relaxed then a day building sandcastles, rock pooling, dodging the waves or flying kites is for you. And for those interested in history (our local heroine Grace Darling helped rescue survivors from the shipwrecked Forfarshire in 1838), the Lifeboat museum in Seahouses and the Grace Darling Museum in Bamburgh are well worth a visit.

The Holy island of Lindisfarne should be high on your list too with the trip across the causeway an adventure in itself; not only is the island steeped in history, with St Aidan establishing a monastery in AD635 and the final destination of St Cuthbert’s Way, it also has an exciting array of wildlife, rare plants and an abundance of visiting birds.
Hulne park in Alnwick, once the hunting ground of the Percy family, provides beautiful Parkland to explore, a Gothic tower, lovely views and several walking routes over 3000 acres within a walled enclosure. For keen cyclists, there are miles of quiet country lanes, beautiful countryside and views, and stunningly scenic coastal roads offering a real feast for the senses with plenty of pubs and tea rooms dotted about for a well-earned break.
And if the weather is not looking too good then a trip to Barter Books in Alnwick is recommended – a quirky second-hand book shop with open fires, armchairs, model trains and a café; there are books galore and you can spend hours here without realising! Another option on a wet day is the fabulous Chain Bridge Honey Farm near Berwick where you’ll find a visitor’s centre, vintage memorabilia and a delightful double decker bus café – a real treat and not to be missed!
Go on – escape the everyday; with so much to see and do, there is truly something for everyone!
