Downham Camping Barn is an ideal escape for all ages and has some availability over the summer holidays. A stone tent, no need for the complications of canvas, it comfortably sleeps 12 and is let out on a sole use basis for individual groups. Nestled in a National Landscape area, formerly known as Area of Outstanding Beauty, you will be staying on the skirts of iconic Pendle, a hill steeped in history and mystery and landmark of Lancashire.
The barn consists of upper sleeping loft, a downstairs meeting/kitchen with logburner and separate wash/toilet area. Cold water services, there is no mains electricity and the barn is lit by LED battery making it the ideal escape from the digi ages. An outside firepit and seating facilitates campfire activities.
Stupendous view from the door and although only a mile from the picturesque village of Downham (Whistle Down the Wind, Born & Bred) complete with pub, icecream shop, church, stream and ducks, and only 3 miles from the bustling market town of Clitheroe with it’s Castle, independent high street and transport links of bus and train.
The Downham Camping Barn is ideal location for those seeking a relaxing weekend or a base for the many activities to be enjoyed in the area from walking, bird watching, horse riding or cycling but if looking to rave the weekend away, this is not the site for you.
Visitors need to bring all the usual camping gear – just no canvas. There is space for a few tent and these can be booked on the Independent Hostel site with other extras such as log bags. In the same way guests bring everything, we request you remove everything at the end of your stay.
We are trialing dogs but the area is adjacent to livestock and a country lane. If you have any queries, don’t hesitate to call Cosima – 07817 725976.
We look forward to hearing from you
