But there is so much to do right on the doorstep of the hostel including the famous Wainwright walks, the first of which (Orrest Head) is well signposted and starts only a minute outside the front door. The famous lake boasts a wide selection of enticing activities like paddle boarding, the hostel works closely with a local company that will make hiring and using the boards incredibly simple. If paddle boards aren’t quite your thing why not explore the lake on a boat, you can climb aboard lake cruise tours or hire your own if your feeling brave. If being on top of England’s largest lake isn’t enough for you why not try open water swimming, Lakes Hostel has partnered with south lakes swimming who make swimming in the lakes fun, accessible and safe.
