The Grinneabhat hostel is a perfect stop on the Hebridean Way cycle route.
Grinneabhat is a comfortable community-owned hostel on the main Hebridean Way cycle route on the west side of Lewis, 14 miles from Callanish and 21 miles from the Butt of Lewis. The hostel sleeps twelve in all, with three private rooms and one shared four-bed bunk room. The rooms are warm and comfortable with all linen supplied, there is a fully equipped kitchen, separate seating area with couches, a launderette and a drying room. All rooms are en-suite.
There is a lot to explore in the area, with lovely coastal walks, machair and moorland on the doorstep. The Arnol Blackhouse, Loch na Muilne RSPB reserve and Shawbost Norse Mill and Kiln are all nearby. Guests are welcome to join in with the community activities in the building – you could learn some Gaelic, attend a cėilidh or join the weekly community coffee morning while you’re here.
