Forest View Walkers Hostel and its history as Byrness Youth Hostel

Forest View Hostel and Spruce Cottage

Forest View Inn was once Byrness Youth Hostel.  On the edge of Northumberland National Park and Kielder Water and five miles south of the Scottish border on the Pennine way,  the Youth Hostel was opened to cater for Pennine Way walkers.

It was renamed Forest View Inn, to reflect the B&B style of accommodation and the addition of a tap room serving draft beers to guests and the village.  Spruce Cottage, around the corner, was converted to a bunkhouse to provide bunkhouse-style accommodation for walkers and youth hostelers.

In February 2017 Spruce Cottage and Forest View left the YHA and a year or two latter Spruce Cottage Bunkhouse closed. Forest View Inn continues to provide B&B accommodation and a bar for company.   You can find out more about hostels leaving the YHA here.
