Our barn is the perfect place to set off on the 18 mile Kinder Perimeter Challenge walk, with 2,700 feet of ascent and spectacular view every step of the way.
There are many options for a circular walk around the Kinder Plateau, but most start from Edale, so straight away you’re facing a stiff 2 mile, 1,200 foot climb to get to the plateau plus you’ll be on some of the busiest paths in the whole of the Peak District! Crookstone Barn, however, is less than a mile from the summit at Crookstone Out Moor (515m) with little more than 500 feet of ascent, plus you’re away from the tourist crowd . From here you can choose to head west with views across to the Lose Hill and Mam Tor and down into the Hope Valley, slowly ascending to the summit at Kinder Low (633m), then north to the magnificent Kinder Downfall then on to Sandy Heys. From here it is pretty much a straight walk east along the northern edge of Kinder with Black Ashop Moor below, bearing south briefly at Fairbrook Naze before continuing along Seal Edge and Blackden Edge until you arrive back at Crookstone Out Moor.
