Explore your creative side!

Artists have gathered here for generations to experience the amazing light and atmosphere of the Northumberland coastline, castles and countryside. The stunning scenery is hugely inspiring for art lovers and provides a peaceful haven for those seeking to develop their painting skills.

A break at Seahouses Hostel provides the ideal opportunity to combine a leisurely stay visiting local studios, galleries or joining in with an art class or workshop of which there are many – or simply find a spot and be inspired by the stunning scenery that surrounds you just as one of our guests did last year!

Arriving at the Hostel on a cold and blustery day, Dr Rob Mackenzie (all the way from USA) had walked St Oswald’s Way, Hadrian’s Wall, and the Cumbria Way and was busy trekking along Dales Way when last heard! “The weather has been up and down (St Oswald’s inland was quite muddy) but the scenery has been spectacular, the history fascinating, and the people lovely…”

En route he produced some beautiful water colours – one of which you see here. On his return home, he planned to work some of them into oils before making them available for sale. Please see his website for further information – rmackenzieart.com.
