Broughton Bunkhouse, near Bishop’s Castle is a beautiful old 17th century barn and the ideal place from which to experience Shropshire.
Broughton Bunkhouse, near Bishop’s Castle certainly fits my mental image of what Shropshire is like. With its 17th century heritage, wooden exterior and thick beamed ceiling, it is charming, rural, relaxed. You could choose to meander through picturesque Clun or Bishop’s Castle or go further afield and explore the history and foody-ness of Ludlow. There is, of course, the stunning countryside typified by The Long Mynd to walk or cycle through. And Broughton Bunkhouse would a perfect place to base yourself as an individual, a family or as a group. But remember that the British summertime brings a certain sort of madness: festivals, fairs and foolishness. Have a look at the local events and you’ll see what I mean. My favourite is the British Stone Skimming Championships.
