Escape to the wilderness of the North Pennines National Landscape

Truly a wilderness that is here for you to explore, whether that is hiking across the moors, enjoying the babbling becks or any of the visitor attractions in the area. Or alternatively, simply rest and enjoy the quiet of the area. We have also held our prices at last year’s level.

There is a little something for everybody who stays at Carrshield Camping Barn. From the vast open spaces where you can wander all day and hardly see anybody, to the waterfalls and hidden valleys that bisect the landscape. Spring has arrived and the area is again teeming with life from Curlews, Golden Plovers, Twite, and Short-Eared Owls on the moors with Grey and Yellow Wagtails, Dippers, and Wheatears in the valleys. The wildflowers will soon be blooming again giving a splash of colour on the fells and in the dales.
Alongside the natural beauty there are museums, Roman and industrial, to visit, craft shops and tea rooms to enjoy and of course Hadrian’s Wall is not far away either. Due to the lack of crowds, it is also a wonderful location in which to find peace and seclusion to re-charge yourself.
Our website has details of some of the many things you can do when you book your break with us.
