Our wonderfully cosy, stylish Old Brooder bunkhouse is available for 2+ night sole use stays during half term week – and the longer the stay, the better the rate! Escape to accessible, rural Suffolk.
The Old Brooder bunkhouse is perfect for a large group who wish to quickly escape to real countryside from London by train (1.25 hrs) or car. The bunkhouse suits guests who want lots of daytime fresh air activities (football, rounders and Frisbee on the meadow, farm activity pack, planned walks and bike rides) and a warm, homely place in the evening where you can cook and eat together, relax and play board games together in the cosy sitting room.
Suffolk has lots to offer even in the depths of winter to get families out and about and well entertained – borrow our on-farm activity pack for all ages or venture further afield for forest and coastal adventures. For high-octane excitement try Go Ape or Segway in the forest or karting; and for nature lovers check out the family activity days at local nature reserves. Enjoy a Middle-Earth Adventure and Lord of the Rings themed family challenge ‘Ring Quest’ (15-23 Feb). Historians can visit castles and museums including the new exhibitions at the National Trust’s Sutton Hoo ancient ship burial site.
If the weather is beastly, book a slot for the children at the crafts centre just minutes down the road. Ed Sheeran fans can visit a special exhibition that charts the singer’s rise from Suffolk schoolboy to international star – curated by his Dad! And railway enthusiasts might enjoy local Lavenham’s limited time Century of the Railway exhibition. Or go roller-skating while the younger guests scoot over obstacles and through tunnels in a soft play area in local centres.
The Old Brooder bunkhouse sleeps 22 guests in five bedrooms, including a newly restored ancient Shepherd’s Hut. There are three private rooms sleeping two and two larger rooms sleeping eight in each. 2 night Feb half term weekends IHUK 10% discount to @ £1,350 and additional nights @ £450. 2 night midweek stay @ £900-£1,200 and thereafter extra nights @ £400-450.
