Although Alston Youth Hostel is situated directly on the popular Pennine Way we are surrounded by the remote beauty of The North Pennines with the Eden Valley and Hadrian’s Wall just a short drive away. Guests can borrow copies of our 1:25,000 Ordnance Survey maps to help them explore the quieter of Public Rights of Way and Open Access land and discover another side of Cumbria and Northumberland!
Being avid hikers ourselves we have walked many of the local paths so have a good knowledge of the area and there’s nothing we like more than being able to suggest local routes for individuals and walking groups. You can base yourself at the hostel and have a new adventure everyday!
