Dolwyddelan Castle has a magnificent location in the heart of Snowdonia, on a ridge set against the rugged landscape of Moel Siabod.  Built by  Prince Llwelyn around 1220  it was the medieval  stronghold of this Prince of Snowdonia.  You can visit the castle today, its open from March to October and costs £3 to get in.  The walk up from the village is worth it for the view alone.  Lledr House, in the village of Dolwyddelan, makes a great base for this stroll and for the many other outdoor activities available in Snowdonia.
