Crossing Morecambe Bay is an unforgettable experience which can only be undertaken with an experienced guide.
This famous walk starts in Arnside; participants form one large group which is safely led across the sands by Cedric Robinson MBE, the Queen’s official Guide. The length of the walk varies between 6-8.5 miles depending on the route taken on the day by Cedric and should take about 3 – 4 hours to complete. The route affords plenty of panoramic views of the surrounding Lakeland hills and those of Lancashire and Yorkshire. The walk excitingly involves wading through channels and crossing gullies on the saltmarsh. You will get wet and parts of the terrain can be slippery and difficult. Every walk is in aid of a different charity who raise money by charging an entry fee or by asking for sponsorship. Registration for the guided walks must be through the relevant charity.
