Another first night option: Directly on the route at Ennerdale.

3 miles east of Ennerdale Bridge, the Coast to Coast walk passes through the old farm yard of Low Gillerthwaite Field Centre.  With rooms sleeping between 4 and 14 people this remote centre welcomes individual walkers and groups.

Set in England’s remotest, least inhabited valley,  with the only access by footpath or forestry track, Low Gillerthwaite is a remote haven for walkers on Wainwwright’s path.  Meals can be provided with notice.  Please note that there is a very patchy mobile signal, but there is a BT payphone on site.  BYO sleeping bag.
