Why go where everybody else does, have a sense of adventure and leave the crowds and queues behind. The North Pennines AONB has plenty of offer, expect for overcrowding and endless lines of waiting to be served or even to get entry. The are vast open areas of moorland, fells and beautiful valleys of all descriptions to explore. It is not described as England’s last wilderness for no reason.
The West Allen Valley is as far from a crowded tourist destination as you could wish, nestled in the southwest corner of Northumberland in the North Pennines AONB a wonderful place to explore and relax. At Carrshield Camping Barn we are conveniently placed to be able to pop over to the more spectacular, but popular Lake District or beautiful Northumberland coast in the opposite direction. Closer to hand there is Haltwhistle and Hadrian’s Wall, Hosuesteads and Vindolanda, where you can go back in time to image Roman soldiers roaming the area.
If walking, running or cycling are your thing then we have a series of routes on our website that could be what you are looking for, from gentle walks to more challenging routes over the moors. There is every chance that whilst exploring these routes you will not pass other walkers or runners. You could even have an evening wander to watch the sun go down.
So, are you up for the challenge of doing something different? If so go to our website and book a break with us for your next adventure.
